Passion or Purpose?

Good day, well hello!

This post is brought to you from a burst of productivity, feeling like I need to get ish done (plus a bit of neglect for the lapse in time since my first post). That's part of my problem, I'm aware, I'm always on the go, achieving a goal, feeling accomplished. So much so that I need to pause and acknowledge a need to take a breather, recoup, regroup, recharge. However, its always with a "purpose" I promise. I like to call it balance, throw a little self-care into the mix ya know? If not, you should. Remember your health is your wealth! (Disclaimer: I do not know it all, but I am the expert of knowing myself. I share these life hacks with hopes that it may inspire someone else.)

Enough of the intro, here's a bit of some background. I met with this pretty dope business development consultant. I can connect you with her if you're interested, serious inquiries only. During our initial discussion, she asked a very thought-provoking question. What makes your business different from a hobby? Hmmm. Good question because I had no idea how to answer that. I took some time to mull it over, research a bit and generate more questions. Have you noticed I still haven't answered the difference?

I feel like I ended up with more questions than answers. Is this whole starting a business thing a millennial mission? Am I riding the wave? (I never really made the "in" crowd, I'm fine with that.) How do I create income from doing something I like? What is my purpose in life let alone explaining the passion of my brand? That's because I'm still figuring it out and I've convinced myself that's OK. {Insert cliche' quote} Rome wasn't built in a day, right?

A decent article from Forbes suggests, instead of confusing passion, hobby and career, focus on finding a purpose—finding ways to leverage your passion and skills to fill a need in the world. The author goes on further to advise, shifting conversations from what you like to do (having a passion or hobby) to how you can be a valuable contributor in helping society fill its needs (having a purpose.) There is more to how that leads to human satisfaction. Here's the link for the whole article, it was a quick useful read for a thriving creative like myself.

Now, when I check in again with my biz dev partner I'll be able to tell her Running World Designs understands the value of personalized work environments and living spaces and helps create ideal arrangements through relationship building and authentic connections. I don't know about you but sometimes we all could use a think partner, an accountability buddy, a listening ear not a responding problem solver; to help us achieve some of our goals. Whether it be about design or divine life's destiny ( I tend to get deep sometimes *chuckle*) we are here to offer support for you to Run Your World!

Part of cultivating authentic connections is respecting the uniqueness of everyone's individuality. Promoting positivity in creative ways and rejuvenating outlooks on life for healthy and encouraged living. I figured I could use this blog as a touch point to make some of those linkages. So if this blog is meeting your interest needs so far I know this is only the second one in, but, the best has yet to come. Be my guest like, subscribe and share among your networks. Be sure to check out the services provided, I am always happy to collaborate and connect.

Until next time, it's been real.

As told by me ~Sincerely, Nani J
