This past weekend was full of love & life + good things have been coming to me in threes. I pray that all is well with you. Thanks for being here with me to extend some gratitude. I’ll share some highlights of the month below.
Noir Soul Presents Artists X Conversations
I was called to create a vision of warmth, natural hues, and inviting details to an atmosphere celebrating artistry and birthdays. It was an honor to organize and participate in such a rejuvenating experience.
I knew this would be an intense weekend with a variety of happenings going on. I paced and planned accordingly by asking for help from loved ones I could count on. My mother and son join me in making a dynamic trio for RWD. It’s even more special to have them beside me on my passion project pursuits.
All in all, it felt good to bring the value of being myself to a collective space creatively. Quiltmaking, photography, canvas art, and intentional comic relief all contributed to a rich discussion. Paired with a decadent spread to nourish our bodies, this event was genuine connections & fuel for the soul.
ThriftCon Philadelphia 2022
Now, this is my second time around at Thriftcon and I plan to make this an annual development experience. I have not vended either time but intend to as business progresses. On the flip side, the finds are always one of a kind. The energy and vibes are top-tier. Keep in mind all things financial for the weekend were considered businesses expense - tickets, mileage, food, etc. (perks)
I love a kid-friendly invite, I did pre-purchase my ticket and merch. The decent part is they sell tickets at the door and I thought I would have to get one for my son, but he slid on through because kids under 12 are free! (If it’s free it’s for me).
Rule of thumb - managing time and money has been top of mind lately. I have to allocate a certain amount of time (1hr 30mins) to engage and be present while also capturing content. Blessedly, my kid has been practicing with the camera lens and exploring hobbies (grateful).
Wrapping up and moving on to the next…..
Fam{ily}
Whew, Chile! I wrapped up the weekend with some much-needed family time. My love for you runs deep! Thank you for seeing me even when I can’t see myself. Praise be, to be seen and free for being yourself. Cuss, fuss, fight, confront and console there’s something about the love of a cousin. Happy Birthday A’Zaelyn!!!!
In the midweek memo, here are a few considerations for added care. Carry these thoughts with you as we switch seasons to September:
Monitor your social battery, and make note of when you are overstimulated/over-engaged.
Honor your commitments & respect your capacity.
AFTER you’ve prioritized yourself. Communicate clearly + early on how you can deliver.
Be careful of crumbs, giving/receiving. How you show up matters. Be honest in advocating for your needs.
Shout out to everyone pursuing and surrendering to their season accordingly. August its been real. Thank you for being yourself!
